Regional Retail Accountant - Dunedin / Lower South Island

The purpose of this role is predominantly two fold
- to provide an internal audit function which protects & ensure effective financial control of Flight Centre business
- to work in partnership with the Area Leader as a part of the Country's Management Team, attending leadership meetings to provide advice on maximising profit, highlight opportunities, plus reporting on financial results.
Though working in Dunedin head office you will also be out where the action takes place working alongside the team leaders of our retail stores to audit their financial records, to provide training of financial systems & offer business advise
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Internal Audit and Shop Review
- Prepare monthly Accounting & Financial Statement Administration & Preparation for the Area's shop & support accounts.
- Preparation of Consolidated Financial statements for the Area, including commentary regarding performance compared to budget & last year.
- Management Reporting and Business Analysis
- Preparation of a monthly management report, which is a complete analysis of the area including financial and non-financial data
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 2 years accounting experience ideally in a retail or travel company, but not necessary
- High level of business acumen & professionalism
- Great attention to detail & methodical work systems
- Self motivation & excellent communication skills
- Availability to travel to our retail stores
- Availability to Attend the Travel Expo's and Discover the World Events to manage the financial control of those events.
- Attend the National Finance Conference.
- Monthly Team meeting held in Auckland.

Please note - This is a job that does require travel to out Flight Centre stores in the lower South Island
